Hatred Hits Home….Literally

I have really cool next door neighbors.  One of them rang my doorbell this morning at about 7:30 and told me he’d pulled up my Obama yard sign because it looked like this:

To the person who did this:

Firstly, I hope you don’t have children.  I’m no handwriting expert, but I’m thinking you are a grown woman.  In fact, you’re probably one of those ‘Christians’ who gets all of her news of FAUX and just can’t stomach the idea of anyone who’s other.

Well, here’s something for you…The police have been here and filed a report.  The HOA has been notified, and my sign is uncovered and back in my yard.  I’m not afraid of you and your bigotry.  Cameras are being installed and WHEN we catch you messing with our sign you will, quite appropriately be charged with the felony this is and smacked with the associated $2,000 fine.

Have a great day, hater.

P.S. I find it interesting that our little suburban city was just named the 2nd best place to live in America.  I suppose there should have been a caveat.  “Best Place to Live If You’re A Bigoted White, Christian, Anti-Gay Person Who Doesn’t Support Our First African-American President And Hates Everyone Who Does”.   That was probably too long a title, though.

  1. I’m in Texas as well and my 19 year old daughter put a post card sized Obama sticker on her car one evening about 5 pm. The next morning about 10am she went out to her car only to discover the bumper *in particular the sticker* and her trunk were egged and smeared all in the cracks, etc. Needless to say, I had her remove it since she has to drive nearly six hours through the deepest redneck country to get to her college from here. I told her we were actually lucky something so minor happened here at home, rather than her be ran off the road or shot at in the middle of nowhere with no one around.
And in my version of how I’d like to believe this Hypochristian’s afterlife experience goes something like this: God, laughing his ass off. “Okay, wait..Okay, no, seriously, it still gets me every time one of you people who acted in hate and used my name to do it, thinks I’m going to invite you in.” *poof* Sorry, Roger. You tiger now.

    • This is awful to hear, in this day and age society needs to realize the world is no longer black and white. Discrimination is not going to solve anything, instead it will only tear this country apart like it has in history before.

  2. People and their ignorance. But this isn’t just in Texas….I’m a proud Texan. Black, female and gay…all three strikes…but I’d never bad mouth Texas because of a few people stuck in their ways and living with closed minds.

    • You are right Tish. But it is the people of this country who happen to be amassed to a large extent in Texas, Tennessee, Kansas and Missouri who are so filled with hatred and narrow-mindedness that they give these states a bad name. It is unfortunate. But as I said earlier, it happens way up here in Minnesota too. We have Michelle Bachmann.

    • Tish, I hope you don’t see yourself as having three strikes. There are some people that are just bad and others that are ignorant, many are becoming more enlightened everyday. I totally support you. But, I hope people understand why so many people are fleeing liberal states and coming to Texas, which is same reason people come to America in the first place. I hope the voters do not kill the golden goose. Take care. If you have too many problems with haters you can move to illume in Dallas, it is a great fun place and you will be welcomed. They have great parties.

    • And don’t forget, Nevada is called “the Missisippi of the West” for a reason. I think God scattered all you wonderful people all over to show everyone else how to live.

  3. Cassey, I also live in McKinney and have found it not welcoming to liberal Democracts. I admire your courage and committment to your cause. I agree that the writing appears to be that of a female, one filled w/ hate and white arrogance. How
ever, look for a man to be the one who actually trespassed onto your property, in the middle of night. I believe the author would not have done this herself…both are cowards hidding under the blanket of darkness. Please advise when these culprits are identified.

  4. So why add the sarcastic hate comment in the PS? I’m as embarrassed by the sarcastic swipe at the citizens of McKinney as I am by what happened to you.

    • Emotional response, to a despicable act. I find NO problem with her PS.. It’s HER blog, to write HER feelings… If you don’t like it, that’s fine.. Just, not a reason to call her out on it.. My 2cents only..

  5. Since Obama has been running for re-election the amount of racist remarks I have heard spew out of people’s mouths has been astounding. I am not at all surprised by this nor do I find it not to be plausible because it was obviously written by a woman. I have lived in this area for most of my life, I attended school in Allen. Believe me this mentality is not out of the norm.

  6. Must be how someone with a Romney sticker in NYC or Chicago feels. There’s plenty of hate and stupidity on both sides folks!

  7. W-o-w. Just wow. As a Republican and a Christian, I am appalled when people do things like this in the name of their political party, or religion or whatever. They don’t deserve to call themselves either a Republican or a Christian, because they have clearly missed the meaning of Christ-like behavior (hard to imagine Jesus scribbling over a sign with a marker) and don’t truly believe in the principles our country was founded on (hello, First Amendment, free speech anyone?).

What’s a shame is that McKinney really is a nice place to live, but the impact of a few disrepectful, ignorant bigots can certainly ruin a person’s perception of it. I’m sorry your property was a target and I hope they catch the person who did it. Everyone should be able to support whatever political candidate they favor without worrying about something like this.

  8. Note to idiot mouth breather who defaced sign: Mormons? Not Christians. Why? Well, you see, because they’re Mormons. Please don’t procreate. Thanks.

  9. Hi, my name is Christopher di Spirito and I am the owner/editor of another WordPress blog called From the Left.

    http://fromtheleft.wordpress.com/

I picked up this story and blogged it yesterday. I am sorry you were victimized by racist nitwits drunk on Texas Tea Party lies and propaganda. The notion that someone would break the law, step onto your private property and vandalize an Obama 2012 campaign sign is beyond comprehension.

Unfortunately, your story is all too common in states like Texas where tolerance rare and diversity is viewed as a threat. Also, don’t forget, Gov. Rick “I’m a Prophet” Perry and his family hunted at Niggerhead Ranch for decades and reportedly found the offending name to be funny.

    • One can assume that the name niggerhead comes from hate.It possibly doese, but the word nigger was the mispronounced word for the original french name for black and the english word negro, therefore they might only be ignorant and uneducated.

  11. Blue Chick, I just read your story and I am sorry about these issues you are having with these cowards. I guess the GOP figured that if they did not allow the President to perform his job, then he would not be electable. Well, they are wrong. I am going to give this man another chance. When you dig one hole, you should dig two. Rmoney his taking down the state GOP candidates one by one as well.

    People are turned off!

I wish Obama luck next week during the Debate (as if he really needs it) and I hope the voters allow him to continue to move this country FORWARD. That is the problem with bigots, they are stuck. I have never questioned the motives or intent of this President because he is a good man first to his family and the American people. I will keep you in my prayers.

  12. Is the president’s race justification for opposition? No, that’s racism. Is the president’s race justification for support? No, that’s racism, too. Racism is a zero sum game – you can’t push the interests of one race without negatively impacting the interests of all others. This is the antithesis of racial equality.

  13. Not knowing you, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that this sign was not made by you as a prop. It is most likely the work of young people who know you and did it because they know it would rile you up. I’ll bet if you had the opposite stances as you do, it would have said something equally as provocative from the other perspective, simply to rile you up.

Conservatives (classical liberals) in general are often more tolerant than the modern American liberal.

    • G, if you knew of the people (some from my church) who are no longer speaking to me because I told them I supported the President, you would not have added the last sentence to your comment. (I find conservatives and tea party people to be extremely vicious and totally lacking in reason.)

  14. Imma keep it 100% the word “nigger” does not have ANY power in my world…played out! NEXT…tell dem ignorant folks that are calling folks niggers to get an fucking clue….MOFO’s. This da 21st century…ain’t nobody feeling all that nonsense no more…what what dem pubs say again? Hear that Mitten Mitt Romney….

  15. Just was wondering if there were any updates on this? You said you caught someone on video taking the sign. Have any idea who it may be? Can you post the video on your blog?

  18. It is unforunate; however it is happeng the reverse way two. Everytime our neigbors put out their Romey/Ryan sign overnight they are getting stolen. My next door neighbor had an Obama one. Sunday night the Obama one and the three Romey ones were stolen yet again; sometime after 10pm. I hope you catch the person that did this. This is America; everyone has a right to choose whom in their opinion they feel will do the best job. We are Americans first; then Republicans and Democrats second.
